Drought is considered the main stress factor affecting agricultural production. The climate change we are currently facing is characterized by increasing temperatures and a lack of precipitation or its uneven and hard-to-predict distribution. One of the phases significantly sensitive to water shortage in crop production is seed germination. Superabsorbent polymers have the potential to improve the water-holding capacity of soil, thereby reducing the impact of drought stress on plants and thus improving the productivity and stability of the agro-ecosystem.
